Born in Taiwan, raised in Texas, Ivy is a queer, nonbinary cinematographer and director with over a decade of experience in film.
From intimate handheld to precision camera work, they specialize in movement based, emotion driven pieces that marry camera, lighting, and actors in a seamless dance. As an artist, Ivy moves fluidly between genres—shooting commercials for regular clients like Meta and Amazon, collaborating with narrative directors such as Richard Linklater and Ed Harris, contributing photography to Oscar-nominated documentary Boys State. You’ve seen their work at SXSW, Tribeca, Sundance, on TV and streaming platforms.
As an immigrant and bicultural filmmaker, Ivy's unique sense of home brings a grounding energy to their images. Their innate ability to make people comfortable contributes to authentic performances on screen. A verite documentarian, Ivy sees their frames as portals that facilitate curiosity, compassion, connection.
